Announcement !

( read please ! I know it is long and maybe boring but it is informative. You can also directly read about only the blog you are interested in and learn about my plans about it )

I am posting this to give more clarifications about the blog future development.

How it all began 

I started a lot of online projects because I wanted to improve my graphic knowledge in many different areas. This led me to have too many project to deal with and I had to sacrifice some of them in favor of others.

I have multiply intersts that include cinema, music, photography, art , design , literature , travelling and others . I chose however to start up with a blog dedicated to Asian pop culture and above all Japanese and Korean music and movies/drama because I found their rising popularity interesting theme .

I was first drawn to explore contemporary Asian culture ( I had always had an interest for the East but more towards its history )  after watching  some Japanese anime as it had  happened to many others , I presume.  I found the distant, beautiful and particular world of Japan fascinating in way only a far off and never visited place could be.

My “journey into Asia “  started by watching movies and expanded into reading about the culture, trying to learn Japanese, checking the OSTs of the movies I have seen and later  I “discovered” also South Korea and its music and movies and so on  . I was a happy “victim” of The Korean Wave and I didn’t even know it .
Then day by day I started to realize that this thing is huge! It wasn’t just me ! Kpop fans were more and more everywhere! I have always new anime has a great fan base but never expected Korean music to be so popular … and it is even more popular now. I really found that interesting!

The first Blog 

That is how I started with Asia Entertainment ( it was my silly working title at first but it happened to remain that way until now )  . I made this blog because I wanted to force myself to practice drawing more. Since my theme was Asian pop culture,  I started with the idea of a KPOP calendar and  BIGBANG’s dress up games in my head . I also found the blog to be an opportunity for me to share my “discoveries “ about Asia with other people .

Those initial ideas, though, were soon joined and overrun by others that my restless brain kept inventing. Therefore I decided that if I single out those ideas it will be easier to manage them and I started splitting the blog into other blogs.

How it all ended up to be ... 

Asia Entertainment has split into 6 separate blogs in one year time!
 If you think me crazy you are probably right. I have too many ideas and too many interests and too little time …but I have decided that I am not going to abandon any of those projects for the time being but I will just try to re-organize them better and I am not planning to split them anymore .

Those blogs are : 

BIGBANG The Dress Up Game (link)  – will feature all BIGBANG Dress Up Games . This blog has suffered a lot because of the new ideas that were taking my time but I am determined to finish more of those dress up games soon and this is what might slow down the future issue of VIP Magazine .

Panda Games ( link ) – it is the continuation of BIGBANG Dress Up Games where I will post flash games on other subjects besides BIGBANG.
For the moment there is Bridal Mask Game in there that I made this summer while watching the drama .
 I also have a few ideas for other games  but I will announce them when I actually start working on them. I have also invented some games that you can print and play with friends! I cannot wait to find time to finish them !

 BIGBANG VIP Magazine ( link ) - I decided to cut out BIGBANG from Asia Entertainment and start a magazine about them basically because I wanted to learn InDesign ( but I keep using Photoshop for making it for the moment ) . BIGBANG are my favorite Korean group not only in terms of music but they are most fun for me to follow. I know them since 2010 but I felt “involved” in the fandom in 2011 because of the accident of Daesung . Before that I would very rarely get to comment or say anything instead I was just a “viewer”. In 2011  I felt very bad about all that situation so I  started some project for supporting Daesung and I got to know the fandom ( the VIPs) better. I like making VIP magazine especially because it is not only dedicated to BIGBANG but most of all to the VIP fandom. It is all about being a fan of something and for that reason I always like to share fan made things such as fanart or fan project.
I feel like in my attempts to make the magazine “look nice “  I have not put enough care in what I am writing . I want to explore more about the ways musicians, in this case BIGBANG,
are influencing their fans and I want the magazine to be more interesting in future . I will prefer to write less but more relevant things.  I will keep improving it in any case!
I will also keep posting reviews for songs or videos of BIGBANG – it is always my upmost pleasure to share my excitement with fellow music addicts!
( I have one particular idea for a future project as part of VIP Magazine but it is very time consuming so lets see when I will be able to start developing it ! I will update on it when there is progress)

I have also started BIGBANG WORLD TOUR Blog  ( link ) – because I was very exited about Alive tour – follow it for all kind of updates about BIGBANG live performances and tour info. After the tour is over I will probably convert the page into BIGBANG live events and update it with all kind of future about BIGBANG’s performances.

Explore Asia ( link )   - it is a blog about Asian culture but I hardly have any time for it  ! I have so many things I want to write about  in the blog  so I will try to find time to get back to it as soon as possible !

Another part of Asia Entertainment is its “karaoke “ youtube channel ! I love making videos so subscribe if you enjoy them. I am currently making lyric version of Korean songs so if there any song you want me to “lyric” for you comment on my channel!

With all those “spin off “-s  what it left of Asia Entertainment ? 
I will keep posting the karaoke videos there and also any kind of announcement and random Asia related things but above all  ,  it will become my Asian Movie-Drama review page.
I have stopped the making of “Kpop” Calendar for the moment but I might decide to restart next year – I will post it about it there as well. Keep an eye on this page – its time will come !

With all this said , I hope you got an idea of what to expect from me in the near future .

I will no longer put a specific date on when I am going to publish something but I will use instead the so called “process bars “ . You can check them to see how the work on a certain project is going and it can give you some idea of when to expect the publishing of any of my graphic projects!

Be patience with me! I do the things I have planned to do but it just sometimes takes me more time than expected.

I have a university to deal with and friends who I want to spent time with and other things to do besides being in front of the PC so I cannot always do things as fast as I want !

Gangnam Style !

Hello !

Sorry I totally disappeared but I had some things to do and so on ..... but I  am back now ! ^^ 

There is at least one million things I want to do but only one month vacation :S ... in any case , more updates will be coming soon . 

Now lets talk a little about PSY ! Cause he is so epic ! haha .

Of course I know him for a long time , since he became part of  the YG Family . (  For those , who know YG , you would understand why I am saying this - YG artist are just differen ^^ ) Maybe I will talk about YG another time . Now back to PSY ! 

I was totally shocked to see he is becoming so famous and I am so happy for it . At the same time , it makes me a little worried - you know that feeling when you have discovered something that is kind of "yours" because no one around you knows about it and then suddenly everyone knows about it and it is not anymore   "your thing" and ... it is almost as you have been robbed ! haha . It is ridiculous but it is true !  It is a paradox - you always say to your friends - check this out , it is great ! But no one pays attention ... When finally everyone is paying attention , you are like ... "ok , now , take it slow . Don't ruin my thing " .

Gangnam Style  might remain to be only a one hit wonder , but nevertheless , I am happy for PSY's success .

and ... there is one more thing . There are so many kpop artist - all of them beautiful and young and flawless .... so who would think it will be PSY to create the hit of the summer . But because it is him , I am so content ! Ok , it is the beautiful and flawless kpop artist that probably paved the way... BUT it is PSY being himself the main thing . 

Looking good and have super expensive videos are not the only thing that sells things and it is not the only thing that can  make people interested in something . People like originality  .... or maybe they just like cathy songs ! lol !
In any case , the popularity of Gangnam Style ,  proves that if something is cool/good/original/, the world can know about it , even without any media had ever tried to promote it . Youtube creates the trends and the media comes after just to comment on them .

The people who don't know anything about kpop or Korean music , or Korea in general , might find the song catchy or the video funny or riduculious or strange or whatever . It doesn't matter . The good thing is that youtube is a way to make people explosed to things that come outside of the shell they live in and this is a kind of provocation for all of them .

In any case ,  I like PSY for his ... how to say it ... his attitude . Why PSY is so awesome ? Well , he has more than swag ! He really has such energy a person would never expect to find in someone who looks so ... normal ( at first sight  , from a distance :P) . I presume that to be on his concert would be a great experience , cause he can make you dance and jump and forget about everything ! 

I checked his album I suggest you to do the same . For now I have "Blue Frog" ( the first song from the album ) stuck in my head - that is because I love what it means and it is really gives me positive energy . The fact that GD is part of the song is great , but this is not the reason I liked it ! 

So , today I decided to make a kind of "sing along" version of PSY's Gangnam Style and if I have time in the next days , I will do "Blue/Green Frog " lyrics video as well .

Some updates

Hello !!!

I am going to be very busy for the next two month so unfortunately I need to postpone most of the things I wanted to work on for this blog . I will still update the calendar and maybe have some occasionally post but in general I won't be very active until mid of July . After that I will dedicate more time to this blog , so don't forget me completely ^^ .

I want to share with you some impressions about movies and music stars , also I am making a game about kpop that you can print and play at home . All this and more will come in July !

BIGBANG BADBOY Lyrics Video

I tried to make the romanization of the hangul more readable and added some "signs"


What they mean :

1.The combination of vowels who are marked in RED represent ONE sound or sound combination.

Example -- YEO is a 1 sound combination and not 3 separate sounds. It should be pronounced as the vowel in the English word "young"

2.Where one vowel is bigger than the other is to indicate that the sounds is more like the bigger one ( check the exact pronunciation in the list at the end of the description)

3. SI is marked in blue to suggest you that "s"+"i" in Korean is usually pronounced as the English word "she"

4. Some letters are mark in grey cause they are hardly pronounced or almost mute. I am not sure for all of them , though .

Here is how to pronounce the vowel combinations
ㅏ ( a ) - as in father
ㅑ ( ya ) - as in yard
ㅓ (eo ) - as the sound "o" in open
ㅕ (yeo) -- as the sound in young
ㅗ (o ) - as in law
ㅛ ( yo) - as in yoke
ㅜ ( u ) - as in clue
ㅠ ( yu ) - as in you
ㅡ ( eu ) - as in the sound of oo in look
ㅣ ( i ) - as in heat

ㅐ(ae) - as in hat
ㅒ(yae) - as the sound in yam
ㅔ(e) - as in ten
ㅖ ( ye )- ye as in yes
ㅘ (wa) - as in water

ㅙ (wae )- as in wax
ㅚ (oe) - as in way
ㅝ ( wo ) as in won
ㅞ ( we ) as in well
ㅟ ( wi ) as in we
ㅢ ( ui ) as in u plus i

BIGBANG Cover Contest - BadBoy video cover ( the making of )

Hello ! 

I really wanted to participate in the BIGBANG Cover Contest ! I had many ideas but at the end I decided to make a paper theater show that reproduces the video of BadBoy. 

I had midterm vacation and I thought there will be enough time to finish my video. Little did I know about how tiring and time consuming my project will be . Still I enjoyed it a lot ! :)

Here I will share with you the whole process of creating the video ! 

Step 01 – Designing the Set  

I followed some fan accounts about the shooting locations for BADBOY in New York and I managed to get the exact address of the place! I have never been in the US but there is Google earth who took me there. 

At the beginning I was planning to make an exact reproduction of the street elevations but when I actually put all the google earth snap shots together and compared them to the video , I saw that this is too large area for me to build . 

You can see here that I actually reconstructed the street elevation and followed BIGBANG down the block to compare where they actually filmed , in what direction they were going and so on . 

Abandoning the idea of exact recreation of the street I decided to be more creative and to turn NewYork into BigBang city . Brooklynway became BIGBANGway and I also altered the shops as to refer to BIGBANG. 

You can see some of the references I used to create my buildings here. 

The drawing and coloring process 

Step 02 – Creating the characters 

I made BIGBANG and the girls from the video only but I was initially intending to make also the workers and the skaters … but due to a lack of time I made only the main ones .

Step 03 – Building the set 

It was more difficult that it might seem. The hardest part was the bridge. First of all it took me two days to do it – draw it , cut it , glue it , color it … 

The most amazing thing is that it actually stays on his own! I put nail polish ( the whole bottle not the liquid only ) into the base of the colons so that they have enough weigh to stay up . 

The other part of the set was not so obedient and I was tending to fall or move around but I managed it somehow. 

 

 

Step 04 – Filming 

Here the real problems started . Not only some of my figures were constantly falling down but my camera that is already old, had a problem and didn’t want to work. I was in panic and the only thing I could do is … film it all with my mobile phone! LG Optimus saved my life but it was very uncomfortable and difficult process.

   

Nevertheless the difficulties I was enjoying the whole thing . It was hard, it was tiring but it was great ! I felt I am back in school , cutting papers and coloring them with my old paints . It was very refreshing to do something manual and not to use the PC for everything . 

Still all the last process of the video making was made by computer . 

Step 05 – Editing 

I really lost count of how many frames I have edited! There must be hundreds. In the process of doing this I started to get better at it and wanted to go back to the beginning and add more frames where is needed but the deadline was so closed and I didn’t want to miss it .Therefore so I had to finalize it all as quickly as possible . 

I stayed until 5 am last night to upload it and I went to bad totally exhausted.

I am happy that I did this even if don’t get any award. It was fun and now I have some unique memory from my vacation. I am only sorry I didn’t have time to edit it more but maybe like this is better. 

Do you know what was the hardest part of the process ? It was when Fantastic Baby came out and I was so out of space and couldn’t get myself away from the video to work on my cover ! YG , you were trying to distract us so well ! hahah , I am joking ! 

After almost I week spent on this I am happy that is finally done . I cannot sing or play any instruments well , but as you see I have a passion for film making and design and I used all that passion combined with my love for BigBang in creating this video .

FANTASTIC BABY video review

 (Warning ! this is fan girl account . Not objective. Strongly personal  I will try to cut down “OMG” and “Wow “ to the minimum ) 

It is not my thing to write reviews or interpretations but I cannot help it this time. Blue and Bad Boy had really good videos but it is FANTASTIC BABY, I want to write about .

When I first saw it I was in a strong fangirl happiness shock for I don’t know how long. The video might be weird for some people, but perhaps because it is weird that I like it !
There are 3 things that stroke me in this one (without mentioning the high quality of the production, the great colors and so on ) and that I want to write about .

1. Damn, there was so much skin ! 

I think BIGBANG have never shown so much skin in one video … like ever! They didn’t have to do it, to still be very charming, appealing and sexy. But this time we had our overdose of fan service and I must confess – I love it !

Taeyang – we have seen him shirtless before countless of them. He is too hot to need any clothes, right  haha . But in this video he was so fierce! The tattoos gave him this badass look that combined with his anger, determination and confidence made him look so … strong and wild ( and sexy of course ) ! Strong in sense of invincible . His look was so “don’t mess with me “. Even when he was standing still , his eyes were full of fire . The Sun God – wise and strong , but with no mercy for who stands against him ! hahah

He was different, if you see what I mean. The typical sunglasses were gone. That was one new Taeyang with  fierce eyes, moves and voice! I totally love his part in the song . It might be one of my favorite parts. His vocals are just hitting the right place.


Daesung – well here is the place where !OMG ! must be added . We have seen pics of shirtless Dae , so we know he is well built but THIS ! This I didn’t expect it , honestly ! In one scene he is this wild person tied to a wall ( I guess many people dreams came true ! haha ) and in the next we have him super elegant , super handsome in this blue suit . Daesung , you almost gave a heart attach to half of your fans ! I just love you more and more and more ! I am so glad you are back !
So , Daesung shouldn’t run away next time Taeyang tries to undress him on stage . He should proudly show what he has hahah ! ( I am joking here )

Seungri – he gets all the girls in this one ! Damn , little boy , you are so not a boy anymore !
He is flirting with the camera so well ! His looks are improving by the day, really ! I think he was equally sexy just showing skin under the jacket/coat. Ok , I will not say more cause I might get off topic …

G-Dragon – well … he showed his bared shoulders! He was just looking super cool , no matter if you like his hair or not . I mean GPunzel rocks the night !

TOP – the only time you can see Top showing skin is in your dreams , girls ! But is this one of the  reasons I like him so much  ? Anyway – he is so handsome here that I am totally satisfied with him … well , the curls were a little funny , but it is ok . I have some weakness towards French general or what ever it is  clothes style and seeing this on TOP just made my day …. Ok , lets move on before I get stuck on TOP , haha

2. The interpretation 

This video has a lot of symbolism but I won’t pretend I understand it all. I will just tell you what I think . It is a tricky thing to interpret things  , cause you might get yourself giving a meaning to something that they decided to make just randomly or for artistic purpose .

So here is the story – BIGBANG were in a frozen state . They were put on a hold . We all know that . After last year scandals they had to keep low profile and stop all their activities .
The society/the haters / some medias were telling them “don’t come back yet “ , “stay away “ and so on . Basically the “army” with the “stop the music” signs were the ones who wanted to keep BIGBANG on a hold and not let them come back .
But BIGBANG are awake now , they defrost and come back alive . Ready to fight back for their music .
There is the rebellion. The people who rebel are the BigBang army . They might represent the VIPs themselves – the one who fought  to have their music back , to have BIGBANG back .

So there is the battle field ,and GD is there , wounded ,  but leading the fight .
Taeyang is …praying ? But looking quite angry and ready to “fight for his rights “ .


Daesung had been chained – yes , he spent most of the last year , hidden , “chained” , in pain . But he is now trying to break trough, to get free .

There is something interesting I read on twitter – according to one fan , when Daesung is falling in one of the scenes , VIPs are the ones who catch him and  “save him” . The same ones from the BigBang’s army .

What about TOP ? He is also a general in this battle … but there is something funny I was thinking about . Actually TOP spent most of the last year doing commercials and being on the cover of the magazines . Here again we have him , changing frames and being “piece of art “ .

Ok , so what about Seungri ? He was socializing with hot girls , who were fighting over him? I am joking !  He is all in scars . He must have been hurt badly as well .



Daesung is out of chains , looking cool , checking the battle field , fully recovered .

Actually I read somewhere that the fact he is surrendered by cars refers to his car accident .

This thing on GD’s mouth is ... a. purely for concept/design/art  purpose   or  b. he was been poisoned or he has been much slandered … or  some fans suggest it is dragons that are painted on his lips which referece to his lyrics .

Apparently BIGBANG win the battle so it's party time !  BOOMSHAKALAKA time!

People can  now be free from their masks , can breathe normally and dance and enjoy the music .

BIGBANG are back together . Their moves could be again only a dancing idea , Dragon Ball reference  or could be a hint that they have been “blown away” 2 times but they stayed up and didn’t fall down .

What are the animals dancing in the end ? Dragons ? I assume they are  dragons since is dragon year .

Finally we have BIGBANG back on their thrones , ready to rule the world !!!

I want to give them a hug ! They made it , they are back !!!

This is why I like this video – one way or the other – it tells the story of BIGBANG coming back after hard times and fighting over the prejudices of people !

3. Energy explosion ! 

I liked the song before but the video just made me totally love this song ! It fills it up with more energy ! Or is the other way around ? Idk , but the combination of the two is an explosion !

I already wrote too much , so I should stop now even there is probably much more to be said .

It might not make much sense but I wanted to write it !

Sapporo Snow Festival

The Sapporo Snow Festival is an annual festival held in Sapporo,Japan. It lasts usually seven days in February.

This is one of the biggest winter events in Japan and it is more than 60 years old . 

During the festivals many snow statuses are created, inspired by different themes – they may represent famous people, buildings, characters and more .

 

Some of the statues are truly amazing and made with great care of the detail !

What's Up !

Hello!

Today the last episode of the kdrama What’s Up was aired . I haven’t seen that 2 last episodes yet, cause right now my internet is not good enough so I need to wait a little to see them and maybe then I will write about this drama again . 

I have been following this drama because BigBang’s Daesung took part in it but not only because of him , I liked many things in it .

I like the performances, first of all , and I am trying to collect or upload all of them . It may take me a little bit of time, but I hope to have them all in the end. I suggest you to take a look at them and support the artist by buying the OST if you like it .

( I am posting some of them at the end of this post ) .

I like the overall atmosphere of the series – it’s a little dark, a little specific. Also the characters are cool ( I wish the stories of some characters had more screening time , but it is ok) . I must confess that some  little things were irritating me at times , but these are details , so I don’t even want to bother to remember them .

I think if you like music and “campus” drama you will like this as well. It has some very warming scenes and some really funny ones as well. It is a story more about people, than about story itself. All the characters have some particularity of their own and go through their personal “drama”.  The professors are also quite amusing and specific , so the collection of  peculiar individuals is complete .

Anyway , I want to share some performances with you

2. The openning scene of the drama has also a very nice song ( I think ) . It is from the French movie , Les Choristes ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372824/ )  , that I want to see since forever .

3. Daesung as Hades - this is quite new side of Daesung and it is quite interesting to see ( escecially I like his clothes ...and all they leave uncovered ; )  ) . I have always wanted to here him singing something more "rockish" because of his voice . This is not exatcly what I imagined but it is strongly cool ! :) 

4. What's Up - Oh Doo Ri ( Im Joo Eun ) version - this is another cool performance and if you watch this video cut , it  works as summing up parts of the show .

5 .Kim Byung Gun (Jo Jung Suk) - in the drama his character has the problem that he can't sing in front of people ... but he sings pretty well :)
